English 👩‍💻

At the beginning of my ''school life'', English wasn't important for my school, they literally give less than a half of an hour for the class so when I moved to another school my base was terrible I just knew how to say ''hello''. However, the subject never was difficult for me. In the pass of the years, I improve a lot thanks to the new school and personal goal.
Study this in the university may have some aspects that remains me the school subject of this. But also it has very big obvious differences. We get here with a certain level of knowledge, a base, we get to test our abilities here and also learn some of the basic that is fundamental in English, always there is a lack in some area. The grammar and the oral activities have helped me a lot, I think is because is a mix of a ''less formal English'', a one we use in communications of daily life. It gives us the instruments and the place to get better and better in this language. Also, the comparison tips between the kinds of English are very useful.
My personal lack is when I have to talk, I get so nervous, I mostly think that my pronunciation sucks and generally I get tangled with my tongue because I'm not a quick thinker so to answer to someone or to keep a conversation I'm so slow,  kind of sad story. When I went abroad, to the States, I can say that I understand everything or mostly everything that I hear but it was really hard to talk. I have to work it out, probably I will end up talking alone to practice pronunciation of different words, I want to make more conversations with my friends that are very good in English too. Also, I will keep watching series, movies in the language and videos for example from bloggers that are ''natives'', that hand the English in their way is like a form to practice.
About the blogs, I really liked to write them because I simply like ''to write'' and it gives the opportunity to do it and do it of different topics, we can't write something like that in any other subject here in the university. Is certain that some themes were kind of dull but that's the program and we couldn't do anything about it. In the end, all were like a little ''relief''.
The use of English in the day by day for me may be related with all the globalization present nowadays, we use it unconsciously in the social media, the internet is full of it too. Videos, series, music, movies, posts of different topics; one less important than others. I imagine that those are my kind of uses of English out of the class.

Some changes

Maybe I'm not the best to talk or not the person with the knowledge about some changes to do in the study programme of the career. I'm in first year after all, I will be realizing it little by little in the pass of the time because as a person we look back and think ''this could be done differently'' after we have done it. However always there are things to say.
At first sight, this faculty doesn't look as a ''greaaat thing'', it isn't bad. The classrooms or the ''indoors'' are equipped with the technology that could be need. For example in the laboratories (including the ones of private investigations), there are this new machines that helps with the processes in which they are needed; we can learn and at the same time the scientist are receiving what they need. They look quite ugly but it is their charm ...
In the classrooms there are televisions (which are never used), the projectors, air conditioning system ... Oh! for sure I would change the chairs, those are pretty old and uncomfortable.
By the other side I really think that the changes in the place are related with more places to study, to rest; more places with roof! There's a lot of people here, and the places are not enough.
We can't compare with the faculty of medicine in the other street.

Keeping outside in; ''the classes''. The use of technology goes hand in hand with the teaching methods, now the typical form to teach is by the use of the projector to show while the teacher is explaining the theme. Pretty basic but it works (I think), I really couldn't not think in another way more than the typical ''participation of the class by using the smartphones''.  Besides, the use of the platform ''U cursos'' is really a thing, like all it has pros and cons.

Being specific with a career in the faculty, Biochemistry is orientated to the ''investigations'' and the  curriculum is very attached to that, it gives the instruments to develop the abilities, it could offer more options too, expand it. Things i would change would be the ''requirements'' in some subjects because some are not necessary and it gets you stuck. I also know that the student center of the career are making changes in the same topic same as in the workload, they move some subjects (i really don't remember what were) to make the semesters more less ''heavier''.

A vision for some questions

I will give some ''opinions'', as the word means is a personal perception of the world, as long as it doesn't attack anyone.
If you ask me about ''what's your opinion about the legalization of abortion in the 3 cases?''  I will answer ''it was time, but it isn't enough''. Just in 2017 Chile get out of the list of 6 countries all around the world who still penalizes the abortion in every scenery. What can you tell me about it?
The 3 cases are: risks in the mother's life, infeasibility of the fetus and violation. Common sense: how can you not let a woman decide the way that her life is going to take as a product of those situations?
Actually is a relief that them can decide but what about the others?

About ''what is your opinion about buying instead of adopting pets?'' ... For me, more than a pet is like a family member, maybe unpopular opinion, but i will never buy a pet. There is a lot of animals in the streets, mostly cats and dogs. To adopt would mean to save it. To buy would mean support to those cruel ''breeding factories''; they ''produce'' animals like products.

In a very different matter but not least important, the climate change is a trending topic nowadays because the situation is critical and the fault relies with the human. The scientists of the ONU have talked about it, before the 2030 we need to reduce the emissions in a way to avoid the increasement of the temperature.
The mass media finally made some major difusion about it, late but at least they are doing it. Also the big companies, but is a really long path. The people in the world is also updated in the topic, there are who are taking it very seriously in  many ways for example now surfaces this new icon, the activist  Greta Thunberg (She's so cool). Like there are others who try to help as they can; recycling, reducing, reusing. Also the other part who don't take the weight to all of this or prefer to look to another side. Actually I think there is a lack of awareness. The effect is really happening and the consequences seem catastrophic for the humanity, the end is coming.
Recycling is one of the actions that all can do, is very easy, everyone can do it from the home because isn't a requirement to do it in a big scale. Is very important in the process i mentioned before. ''The change starts from home'', a lot of the smallest things can do a significant change.
There is so much information about it too, you just need to look into it.

Nervous System and Mental Health

Maybe it will be a little repetitive but the nervous system is really amazing and interesting and at the same time mysterious. Literally, everything you do or you don't do is because of it. Since we were kids in those biology classes when we first learn about the human body, the first thing we are told is that the ''brain is the boss''. So how can we not be curious about it?
The nervous system is, mostly, in every part of our body, very complex and complete. It is divided principally in two: the central nervous system (brain and the spinal cord) and the peripheral nervous system (the nerves). As extra data: the spinal cord has a weight of 30 gr and a large of, approximately, 45 cm; the human brain has weight of 1,4 kg and his measures are close to 1.200 cm3, by the other hand the characteristics of this kind are not certain for a nerve because it depends a lot of the type.

Like I said before, the nervous system is the ''boss'', all our mental capacities are possible because of it; we can think, move, imagine, feel; the five senses!, a infinity of possibilities.
Also related to this system is a very big list of diseases, some of the most known ones are Alzheimer's, Parkinson's or Epilepsy caused by failures in the normal function of the brain. The consequences of them obviously affects directly in the daily life of a person. Though there is a way to ''prevent'' them, there aren't 100% reliable.

Keeping with this issue, even though this isn't related to the nervous system directly but i'm going to put a little emphasis in the psychiatric disorders. The mental illnesses always were present; the thing is that they were taken as taboo or like a very bad thing in the past, because they couldn't understand it. In the pass of the years the science started to develop knowledge about it. The causes of mental disorders are often unclear, it's said that's a combination of biological, psychological and social factors but that don't remove the impact in the life of a person, the thinking, the mood and the behavior. Nowadays, those are demonstrating be more present, that's bad! So taking care of the mental health is really important too, just don't forget it.

Future Studies

Now, my goal is to finish the semester. However if i need to talk about ''Post Graduates Studies'' I will say that my plan until now is to complete the major and maybe the professional degree in Biochemistry. When the teachers ''oriented'' us at the beginning of the year about the career, they told us about an option, if I'm not mistaken was this: ''in the fourth year you will have the opportunity to apply to the master degree and finish at the same time you finish your major degree'', I heard some rumors from the fifth year students and the student center but nothing more than that, actually that is a real good option to take, I got it on my mind.
Image result for thinking

In the master that offers this university, i'm seriously thinking in the area of clinical biochemistry or toxicology and molecular diagnostic biochemistry. Both of them are really interesting for me and I could have a wide range of things to do. Keep learning and improving in things that I love are reasons enough to take this.
Study abroad is my dream so I will try to apply to a master or to a postgraduate diploma in other country too because there are more areas of specialization and brings you all the good stuff that implies study outside your country. Besides, the way I would like to do it need to be in the presencial form because it simple suits with me better. I just hope to get the opportunity to do that kind of things. It will be what it will be.

So many options

If I'm here right now, is because maybe i have a remote idea on what I want to do, i can't tell you specifically what but this is my path (i hope it is). I choose this career with that on my mind, it can open to you many doors; when the time comes you will have to make a decision or maybe not, maybe you could just go door by door if you want. What i said before, obviously isn't excluding, it happens i all the careers you just to have imagination.
I want to work in a laboratory, in a hospital, in some ''private'' thing or maybe in some installations of crime investigations. Doing researches while I do what I love and if that helps somebody or contributes a little to the society, that's my kind of dream work. I don't mind where as it makes me happy and gives me a fair salary, it's all good.

I've had this idea of working in criminalistics or forensics plenty of time, even I created a ''plan'' were after finishing my studies i will join the ''PDI'' and work there. I remember my head teacher telling me to don't do that because he hates the people who work there.
The genetics and neuroscience also fight a lot on my top of favorite things what I want to do, doing research in those two would be amazing and so interesting. It can be said that those 4 specialties are on my mind, all related to the biological area which is the most interesting for me (it caught my attention since i was a child). The understanding of what happens, how works, and maybe how to help the human being brings me joy.
I have to mention that the series and documentaries I've watched also increase my interest into this.
I would also love to go to other countries, so if my work allows me to do that, it will be perfect, it brings you a lot of knowledge and opportunities of course. I really want to live abroad apparently is easier than before.

The present is constantly changing; we can't know what the future would bring to our lives. We just have to live while we do what we love. I hope everyone could find a job where they fit.

I miss her

When the word ''pet'' comes out the one and only name that appears on my mind is ''Kisi''. Uncommon name? yeah, but my grandfather gave me the suggestion and i couldn't say no to him.
Our story begins on 2005, January of that year, i was 4 years old and i remember to be with my mom in her bed and then a person (i really don't know if was my dad or my grandma) left a furry white thing there it was so small and it moved a lot, i was so happy it was the cutest thing I've ever saw.

She is a poodle toy, yes, she is 14 years old. My eternal dog, she's been through a lot but she always get trough any situation. For example, she had plaster casts on her front legs for a while, my mom and I suffered a lot seeing her in her bed. Also went trough a surgery to remove inoffensive tumors.
How not to love her? she is been with me since i was a child, we watched grow my brother and sister, even she goes with us in the family trips, she is part of the family at this time. Seeing her under the table waiting to ''clean'' any food that falls, is an everyday thing. Is very ''independent'' too like not the kind of dog who searches for petting and ignores the visits.

The only thing I'm quite jealous is if Kisi has to chose between me and my mom, she would follow my mom...It breaks my heart but well, i love her.

Having her away because my family lives in another city is kind of sad, it scares me to go back there in a while and see her affected more by the old age. But I shouldn't think in that way, right? She's my eternal dog.
